"This was a difficult and complicated scheme to programme, the time scale to undertake the works was rather compressed and it was all or nothing to get the scheme in in one hit. No extensions were possible and no half measures.

I was incredibly impressed with Kevin and all the GVC men on site. There were many gangs all working very hard on different bits, but all heading for the same coordinated goal. The men were all very hard working, but at the same time looking out for, and courteous to any pedestrians that required assistance, the emergency services, and myself and Piotr while we were setting out the works.

Everything that they set out to was achieved and the site was opened to traffic 12 hours early. That in itself would have been impressive, had it not been for the fact that the start had been delayed form Friday night to Saturday morning due to a NRSWA clash. Their attention to detail and thought put into the work was very good and exceeded my expectations - I know what to expect as normal service now though! An example of this I found while checking the site before opening to traffic after everyone had left site. The traffic island nearest McDonalds that I thought would have been barriered off and inaccessible to pedestrians was the opposite. The kerbs and approached were all ramped in black, all routes through the island were close barriered and the paths were swept clean of all debris and material.

All in all, had it not been for everyone's (Dan and Robin included) hard work and professionalism then I doubt that we could have achieved this in the time scale available to us.

We very much appreciate this and I know the CBC client does too, having been on
site shortly after opening to see the works for himself. To say the least he was impressed!"
